• We corresponded with Lauren prior to our trip. She was extremely warm, helpful and willing to tailor our tour to our particular interests. She even made dinner reservations for a birthday celebration at a restaurant that spoke no English. Our request was for a 3 hour walking tour of anything but the usual sights. We had all been to Rome too recently to repeat the obvious choices. We wanted neighborhoods and less frequented spots. Evan was our guide and he was easy, intelligent, knowledgable and fun to be with. We prowled the streets of Trastevere, went to the Farnese and Capitoline Museums, peeked into the Jewish section and talked, talked, talked. We kept Evan longer than planned because he made our time so interesting. I would definitely recommend this tour company.

• From the very beginning communication with Lauren was informative and extremely helpful. This was our first visit to Rome and she made herself available for any questions at all that we had about the city. We were a family of 3 - myself and my parents who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. We took the Rome at Dusk tour with Evan the day we arrived in Rome. Due to trouble navigating the buses, we got lost on the way to our meeting place and he came to us! We were instantly at ease with Evan - he didn't skip a beat and clearly re-tailored our tour based on where he came to meet us. He has vast knowledge of the city, sharing many historical details and guiding us down really cool side streets. He has a terrific sense of humor and has such a comfortable way about him. He is very flexible and makes the tour about you and what you'd like to see and do. The time went by so quickly, and we didn't want it to end. We highly recommend Rome Illuminated, and the Rome at Dusk tour. Evan and Lauren, you are awesome - thank you for making our once-in-a-lifetime trip so amazing!!

• We had a weekend break in Rome, and wanted to ensure we saw a decent amount during our stay. After checking the net and here, I found Rome Illuminated Guided Tours. A quick email and we had a reply quickly with their offers. We settled for joining a tour, lead by Nicola. A great tour 2.5 to 3 hours, and very reasonably priced! They also do 1-2-1 tours, and keep you away from tourist traps, and show you some of the quieter and "real" Rome. 10 out of 10. We plan to return soon, and will definitely book another tour.

• We took several tours with Rome Illuminated. Our guide was great, he is very friendly and easy to be with. He took us on a tour of Rome at dusk, which was so beautiful. The next day we did a 3 hour tour of the city, including the Colosseum, San Clemente basilica and Villa Farnesina. He is very knowledgable and provided us with the history of the sites. He also told us of great little restaurants in which we had some delicious meals. Before our trip, we communicated with his company and they put us in contact with tour guides in Venice and Florence. Those guides were great as well. We highly recommend to make your trip very memorable!!
